State of Infrastructure in India

Posted by Viraj Shah on May 3, 2008

We all think that India is developing fast and infrastructure is improving by leaps and bounds, well it sounds good but the fact of the matter is that Infrastructure needs to be improved a lot. Recently when i was on my way to office i saw an ambulance was taking the patient to hospital and it got stucked in traffic in middle.

What bamboozled me was imagining what would the patient in the ambulance might be going through, We have the smallest car, Banks to provide two wheeler loans but hardly anyone thinks about a common man.

The other surprising thing was to see was people in our country don’t even bother about allowing the ambulance to go. This is the state of Infrastructure in our country.

Just imagine anyone of your’s relatives or loved ones in that condition and think what you might have felt? Hope after going through this post at least few people would be open their eyes and would be spreading this.

Ganguly Silenced his critics after Double Century?

Posted by Viraj Shah on December 9, 2007

It was great determination and perseverance which paid off finally for Ganguly as he scored his first double century in his career and it couldn’t have come at a better time than this as India was tottering at 61/4 at one point of time, And the way he stood at one end during his stint shows the class of this man, Also one should not forget the contribution which he has made to Indian Cricket through out his career whether as a captain or a leader who brought in the likes of Yuvraj and Dhoni to the fore, And one can see that they are now the Captain and Vice Captain of the one day side.

There was never a doubt in the abilities of Ganguly, so it was a slap for all his critics who doubted him and said that he cannot play, Well he has proved everyone wrong. He will be definitely missed by Indian Cricket after his retirement.

Common Mistakes of a Trader?

Posted by Viraj Shah on November 24, 2007

The common mistakes of a trader
a) Buys when the stock is run up too much and when it corrects it holds the stock for too long. – Greed
b) Sells too early and then regrets why did he sell – Fear

Now both Fear and Greed are part of human emotions but the thumb rule is “Cut your losses early and Ride your profits”

What is Swing Trading?

Posted by Viraj Shah on November 24, 2007

What is Swing Trading ?

Swing Trading is a special style of trading mostly followed by the people who do not have time to sit in the front of the computer screen to see the tickers and also do not have the patience to hold for too long in uncertain markets.

Swing Traders takes the position buy or sell then wait for one to three weeks, normally this kind of trade is to exploit the news that would be in that stock.

For finding the stocks which are good for swing trading the technical analysis is used and the factors of price and volume are taken into account and it is said the “everything is there in the price and volume.”

The gains from swing trading are normally in the range of 15% to 30% and the downside is very limited because of the time involved into it.

How much money to put into swing trading?

Because swing trading has a span of one to three weeks it is wise to divide your money into six equal parts then invest one part if stock goes down due to market condition invest half more do this for all the stocks so you will have maximum three open positions and some money in cash which should be used to get the opportunity of unexpected correction in the market.

When to Get in the stock?

When there is some news about to happen in the stock it will jump out of no where that’s the day when it comes under scan now next two days it may run up or get go down two to three percent so the weak hands get out of it now that is the time to buy quietly never buy at once but accumulate it over period of 2 to 3 days so you get the best price possible.

When to get out of the stock?

Tricky question : exit is always a difficult decision meaning what if the market goes down and the profits trun into losses? What if the news is not so good and the stock goes down? The best answer to exit rule is ride the profits till you are comfortable if you feel that it will run up more hold it but have a very strict stop loss. Market helps only disciplined traders.

What is life all about?

Posted by Viraj Shah on September 16, 2007

Life is all about Happiness, Sorrow and Joy’s that’s the general belief that we all have but is it really about that only? Well what gives birth to sorrow and joy, Well it’s our own deeds and the way we say something or do some act, So it’s all about your own deeds and acts which determine your joy, Sorrow and Happiness.

I have always thought that life is all about doing your basics right, The basics may be anything with regard to work and relationships which determines our Happiness or Sorrow. But it is the basics which is difficult to perform on a consistent basis over a period of time as do it consistently we become complacent and start hurting others or ourselves.

So is life all about Happiness and Sorrow? Or there is something else about life? Waiting for your answer.

Why we say yes when we want to say no?

Posted by Viraj Shah on August 5, 2007

There are times when we are not able to say no to someone even though we want to, but why is it that we are not able to say No? Well there maybe quite a few no of reasons which make us say yes.

Here are few of them.

Either we love that person so much that we can’t say No

We may not want to hurt someone, thinking that he/she might break the relationship

Thinking what other’s will think, If we say No

Or Even though you can’t help the other person but you would still like or love to help him or her then in that case also you won’t say No.

It is important to use the word No in life even though if you don’t like it, when you can’t help or do something about a situation or an circumstance, But the way you say No also matters a lot rather than committing on something which you can’t do and then repenting.

So always say No when you want to say No and not Yes.

Is being honest a disadvantage?

Posted by Viraj Shah on August 5, 2007

There are two types of People in Corporate world, People who manipulate and People who are honest. Whereas People who are manipulative are thought to be smarter and People who are honest are thought to be as dumb, And they don’t get promoted or they don’t move up the corporate ladder easily as they are the ones who are taken for granted as they are good people, So the management knows that they are explainable by giving a reason or an excuse, Whereas a person who is manipulative will not stick if he doesn’t get promoted or recognized, So he/She gets promoted.

When that kind of thinking exists in corporate world then a person cannot remain good always and say that it’s ok, So what he will do? Either he will leave his/her job or he/she will fight against the system, Well if that’s is also not enough then the only option left is to himself/herself become manipulative and succeed at life for a shorter period of time, Just to show people around that being good doesn’t mean that they can’t change but it only means that they are giving time to other person hoping that he/she will change.

But when that doesn’t happen then it’s time to draw the battle and you yourself become manipulative and explain the other person in their own style. Unless and Until a person suffers he/she doesn’t realize what they are doing wrong.

Do people justify their degree?

Posted by Viraj Shah on August 5, 2007

How many times we have seen that people do something in their graduation and when it comes to their career they do something totally different, Why is it like that? Is it because of Circumstance, need, that first break or not having confidence on them, Well the reasons might be too many but pursuing your dream and achieving it is a tough challenge and very few people pursue their dreams and go till they accomplish their dream.

Pursuing your dream requires lot of determination and dedication along with an plan to accomplish it, Also the guidance is very important as there are many people who want to do something but they don’t know how to go about it, So having someone as mentor or an Career Counselor will be of great help, But finding the right people whom you trust and who will help you in your dreams requires luck. Although luck is 1% but it is the most important thing which determines the look of your dream along with circumstances.

All those are an inspiration for me who pursue something and achieve their dream or who are in pursuit of their dream with dedication and determination as everyone doesn’t have that determination to go for it.

So while making an choice consider it carefully and then make a decision because a decision made today will impact your tomorrow.
